Walk Ambassadors

This past Tuesday was our March of Dimes, March for Babies walk kick-off event. This year, William and Thomas were selected as the Walk Ambassadors. The kick-off was a nice event and I spoke to the group about our experience with a high risk pregnancy and micro-preemies. I have spoken about this publicly now a number of times but it never gets easier. I always get choked up while saying that they were born 13 weeks too soon and that they weighted only 1.12 and 1. 8 ounces.

I am so proud of my William and Thomas. They know how to work a crowd. They were up well past bedtime but still managed to smile and laugh at everyone they met.

For anyone who wants to view our walk page or contribute to our March for Babies campaign, please go to www.marchforbabies.org/karenuad

We are honored to represent the March of Dimes. Without the life-saving surfactant that the boys were given at birth, they would not be with us today. I want to make sure the March of Dimes continues supporting research to give every baby a healthy start.

Over the River and through the Woods

Mark took the boys on their first sled ride. Looks like they had a good time while I was at work. From what I hear they only fell out twice. I got 2 tough little dudes.

Wicked!

Last night, I actually did something spontaneous. My friend Kellie called and offered me a ticket to see Wicked. I called everyone I could think of to babysit since Mark is back on nightshift for a few weeks and my friend and co-worker Nori came through for me.

I got the boys down to bed and left for the theater. It felt so amazingly good to get out and do something just for myself. It felt good to do something so spontaneous. My life has to be so planned and scheduled now.

The performance was so creative and wonderful. I would see it again.

So here is great thanks to Kellie, you made my week!!!! You are an amazing friend!

Stranger, Stranger, Stranger

The last 2 weeks have been filled with Stranger Anxiety. Poor little Tommy won't let me put him down in the morning. I think he fears I will be leaving for work. After I put on my work clothes it gets even worse.

To make matters worse for the poor little guy, we have been having babysitter issues. I think I finally found somone, Linda. She is 58 and I think OCD when it comes to cleanliness. My biggest issue is letting someone take over some of the duties in my home. I am well aware that I am not Martha Stuart but I think Linda might be. People think I am crazy for not jumping with joy over her but how would everyone like Martha coming into their home and critiquing it. Actually, I don't think Linda is judging me (at least not to my face) but I do think she in genuinally tring to help me out. She wants me to have list of chores for her to do. She also will only feed the boys healthy foods. Again, this is wonderful but that just means I always have to healthy foods to feed them. I tried getting her to feed them PB& J but she would not do it. She made the eggs, green beans, carrots, broccoli and apple sauce.

So I guess I just have to get over my feel of inadequacy when it comes to homemaking. The home is the people not the dirt and in that case. Our home is filled with love!

joining a CSA

I am so excited. After being on a waiting list for a year, I was offered a share in a CSA (community supported agriculture). It is a wonderful way to eat local food and support the small farmer. I also want to teach my children where food comes from and to respect it.

They also offer some programs for children (although mine are too young right now) and they offer farm work days. This just made my day!!!!

Now all I have to wait for is spring!!!!!

My First Blog Entry

Well, I have decided to enter the world of Blogging. Not sure why but maybe someday William and Thomas can read of all the things they did when they were little.

Eventually, I will write the story of their birth.

Right now, William and Thomas are taking a nap. Samson and Daisy are sound asleep as well. I have the day off of work and I am enjoying some peace and quiet which I don't get much of these days. I wouldn't change it for anything but some quiet is a nice luxury these days.
I don't know who will read this and I hope eventually I will have something more exciting to say.
The picture on top is one of my favorites of the boys. It was Taken on Valentine's day 2007. The boys were 6 months old. It was the first day they rolled over. It was a huge milestone for them and me. I started to really feel that they were going to be alright.
